BIOGRAPHY: As an artist, I address environmental and social issues. The focus of my most recent work is the impact of pollution on the environment. I live between San Francisco, Boursay, a small town in western France, and Ibiza, Spain. I spent most of my childhood on the pristine lakes and rivers of a small town, Mt. Shasta, California. In 1991, a pesticide chemical spill from a near by train wreck killed one of the rivers. It took nearly ten years for it to recover. I also grew up in a household where my stepfather was part of the lumber industry when massive deforestation and clear cutting was happening. At that young age I knew I was an environmentalist. Also after having a child I feel the need to create work that speaks less about me and more about what is happening around us and our relationship to it. The state of the environment is overwhelming and the most important thing we can do is to educate ourselves and hopefully others. For this reason my work in the future will include teaching environmental art and volunteering in public schools. |
